Why paper flowers? They last a long time, you can get really creative, and you can make flowers that you couldn’t have naturally. That last bit was the inspiration for this post. The sun has been out this weekend and it feels like spring (though I am not convinced more winter isn’t on its way) so spring flowers have been on my mind, specifically Western Trillium.

My friend got me an embroidery kit of Starry Night for my birthday from a shop on Etsy. I really liked how it turned out and I had a lot of fun making it, so I thought I would share.

Hello! Hope you are staying warm out there, and incase you aren’t- I have a craft that may help. Our house we rent is rather drafty, and we can feel cold air coming in from under the doors. A while back I made door snakes to block the drafts and they’ve been doing a great job!

I think the amount of people going to a place gives false security that nothing really bad could happen. Places like the Columbia River Gorge are wild though and the weather and terrain can be a dangerous combo, especially if you aren’t prepared or giving it serious consideration. I wanted to write this post as a reminder going into this new year for all of you who promised yourselves new adventures to do so safely and to be cognizant of your surroundings.

We were staying in a small town outside of Asheville and were only an hour away from the highest mountain peak east of the Mississippi River! And it had a trail to the summit! And our first Appalachian hike! Win win win!

Rainy season is upon us in the PNW and the days have gotten really short. One place I like to go this time of year is Wildwood Nature Park off 26 near Mt Hood.

Cory and I have been watching Secrets of the Zoo on Disney so we were extra excited to go to the zoo from the show while in North Carolina visiting our family.
